Bring back that lovin' feeling, 'cause it's gone...gone...gone...woooooah

Dear Kindergarten,

Today I am not in love with you. I am feeling disheartened. Today was a rough teaching day. I hate to say this, but it's not you; it's me. That's right, Kindergarten. I'm giving you the ultimate rejection line. I can't quite explain all of my thoughts and sort them out just yet. Lately I have just had a void. Something is missing. Some joy. Some passion. Some motivation and drive. It makes me sad because I want to love you. I want to love you again like I used to. I have a lot of questions running through my head. Do I want to continue on with you or move on to something new? Do I want to move to something older--1st, 2nd, 3rd, even 4th? Am I ready for a change in teaching or a total career change? Is it the current class of students that you hold that has me down? Do I just need a shot in the heart of the "Kindergarten is the Best" vaccine to cure me of this funk?
Kindergarten, you are beginning to wear me down. You are exhausting. I loathe you during the month of August. You will get better. I keep telling myself that. This year I am having my doubts though. I want things to get better and work out between us. I really do. I still love my job of teaching. I can't see myself leaving you to do anything else. Where else would I go? What else would I want to do? I just want that lovin' feeling back. I want to be excited. For me. For our kids.
I hope things work out soon,
Sarah

Ice cream and cake do the ice cream and cake!

I can't get the Baskin Robbins commercial out of my head. It makes me want to dance. It also has cowbell.

Where does depression hurt?

Obviously on my face. A Cymbalta (depression med) commercial came on the other day while Emily and I were watching TV. Of course the actors look all sad because they are, well, depressed. Emily said, "Look, Sarah. That's what you look like." Perfect.

What a mess. A HOT mess.

So true. I heart home.

So, I have this pet butterfly...

Meet my pet butterfly, Jutter. Yeah, I don't know. If you know my family and our deal with names, you will just accept it. Don't ask questions.
Jutter likes to visit me when I swim in the pool. He likes to land on me and drink water off my skin. Since butterflies have a lifespan of like, two weeks, chances are it is always a different butterfly that comes to visit me. That's okay. The point is, butterflies obviously love me, and that makes me happy.
