Least Favorite Thing Friday
Class parties. I don't wish to write anything else about them at this time. Maybe later. Maybe.

Favorite Thing Friday
This summer I discovered author Laurie Notaro. She is hilarious and I wish I had her in my life as a friend. I've read three of her books so far and just started reading An Idiot Girl's Christmas. Anyone that refers to cheese cubes as "Little Squares of Love" is a genius in my book. Check her out if you haven't already.

Favorite Thing Friday
This weekly installment of Favorite Things is dedicated to my favorite rapper, Mr. Shawn Corey Carter, better known as Jay-Z. This is extra special because today is also his birthday. His 40th to be exact. I'm sure Beyonce is planning just a small shindig to celebrate. I wish I was invited. Happy Birthday Jigga Man.
What's your favorite Jay-Z album? I have two: Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life and The Blueprint. His old stuff is still my favorite.

Clap Your Hands! It's December 1st!
One of my favorite Christmas traditions is the chocolate Advent Calendar. My Mom bought them for us each year during my childhood. I was always excited to see December come because that meant a little piece of chocolate every single day. If you're not familiar with Advent calendars, let me fill you in. A calendar has 24 windows that you open each day to reveal a piece of chocolate. All the chocolate pieces come in different shapes, so each day is a fun-filled surprise. The #24 window (Christmas Eve) is the biggest and the best chocolate piece. It's the biggest because that means it's Baby Jesus time.
Some calendars, like the one that Thurman Merman had in the movie Bad Santa, revealed a different part of the Christmas story on the flap of each window along with the chocolate. I've never had one like that. Wish I did. Too bad. :( Wasn't Thurman Merman such a cute kid?
In my transition to adult life, there are some things that I refuse to give up. One of them being my yearly chocolate Advent Calendar. You better believe that I went and bought myself one this year too. And today is December 1. What did I do? You guessed it. I opened up window 1 and ate up that chocolate. 23 more delectable bites to go!
I like December 1st because it's the kick-off for my Advent Calendar and the start to ABC Family's 25 days of cheesy Christmas movies. Yay for December!
